We arrived in Narita airport and were driven by a nice mini van to our hotel in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo. The rooms at the B Ikibukuro hotel are very compact, no drawers and a couple of hangers for clothes. The location couldn't be better - it is surrounded by small restaurants, cafes, stores of all sorts, and only 2 blocks to the Ikebukuro rail station. On our orientation walk, our tour guide May showed us a very popular Ramen shop where we all had dinner. You order and pay for your meal at a vending machine at the entrance, then you are seated in individual stalls, partitioned off from other diners. We split a ramen and I had a beer for about 1500 yen, or $13.57 for the 2 of us. Who said Tokyo was expensive?
